THE WOYOME FOUNDATION FOR AFRICA (WOFA) is an International Charity Foundation registered in Ghana with a strategic thrust of launching a new offensive in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
We place a special emphasis on education geared towards attitudinal change and the elimination of stigmatization against PLWHAs, as well as protecting and providing for orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs).
The Foundation represents hope for the millions of African people plagued with the pandemic and will serve as a conduit of conveying themessage that the African can and must win the fight against HIV/AIDS.
The African continent has the highest prevalence rate in HIV/AIDS cases and the highest rate of infection. The result of this is a relatively high death rate due to AIDS.
This trend must stop! Deaths due to AIDS in Africa is reported to have reached at least 2.9 million in 2006, of which 500,000 were aged 15 or younger and the majority belonging to the active workforce. (Kaiser Family Foundation).
To win the fight and record significant reduction in the rates of infection, WOFA believes that a direct global approach to fighting HIV/AIDS is urgently needed, and all interventions must be put in place without economic, political or social hindrances. Treatments andtherapies must be provided to all People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) without economic prohibitions.
